R. Composer Kurt Weill referred to his 1946 work “Street Scene” as an “American Opera”, combining the European operatic aesthetic with the influences of American broadway and jazz. Grace Maffucci, soprano, ’22 and Danny Strother, tenor, ’22 offer an analysis of the work and provide a virtual performance of the duet “We’ll Go Away Together”.
