Jackson Diltz ’22, Shannon Maguire ’22, and Olivia Kozub ’23 Research Takeover
Jackson Diltz ’22 is a double major in biology and psychology. His project used a fruit fly model to study FTD, which is a type of dementia. He research under the direction of Dr. Marla Tipping as a Walsh Fellow this summer.
Olivia Kozub ’23 is a biology major. As part of Dr. Pamela Snodgrass-Belt‘s research lab she researched circadian phase shifts and their effect on cellular metabolism as well as circadian genes in wildtype flies, with a Veritas research grant.
Shannon Maguire ’22 is a biology major. She conducted research as a Walsh Fellow with Dr. Pamela Snodgrass-Belt in PC’s animal facility. Her research focused on the circadian rhythm effects of social jetlag on stress and health in Fischer rats. By mimicking the effects of social jetlag, her goal was to understand how fluctuating patterns of day length can lead to alterations in cortisol and blood glucose levels in Fischer rats, and ultimately, stress, obesity, and declining health in adolescent individuals.
