A suite of novel, bio-inspired atropisomeric β-carbolines were modeled and their theoretical energetic barriers to rotation were calculated. A select group of these molecules were then synthesized both as a racemate and asymmetrically, in order to further investigate their physicochemical and stereochemical properties. Here we present a novel synthesis of chiral heterobiaryl atropisomers via [2+2+2] cyclotrimerization.
Poster Presentation: Wednesday, April 26, 2 – 4 p.m.
