BIO103 Gen Bio I
This section of General Biology I incorporates discussions of the biology of anxiety and depression into the curriculum by introducing students to the neuroscience of clinical psychiatry. Connections between biological concepts and social pain are illustrated in the required reading book Social: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Connect. The RAR Fellowship supported intentional efforts to reflect on adaptive responses to academic stressors using the book, Beat Low Self-Esteem with CBT, as a reference. (e.g., “Riccobono time” to encourage meaningful self-reflection through weekly in-class journaling).
