Quantifying the Relationship Between Biomass and eDNA
Andrew K. Hogan ’27, Environmental Biology and English Literature major
Faculty mentor: Dr. Jeffrey Markert, Biology
In this project, we compared eDNA concentration in water to the biomass of present creatures and the time the eDNA in each sample took to decay. With this data, standard curves for both variables can be created and can be used for future experiments and field research. This data will give researchers a greater level of understanding about what animal populations might look like based on the eDNA obtained.
