Inspired by the recent removal of the on-campus security camera monitoring the activity at Dunkin’ Donuts, this research project was created to remedy its problems. Issues arose with a publicly broadcasted camera, mainly with security and privacy issues. This project has an end goal of restoring the camera for the Providence College community’s public access, while fixing those security risks with the original camera. This program will take live video feed and impose an avatar over the people in the frame, protecting their identities. Written in python, the program accesses public python libraries such as MediaPipe and OpenCV, which interact with the subject’s movements. Although it is currently in the prototype phase, this project aims to return the Dunkin’ Donuts camera to all student and faculty usage.
