Exploring And Editing
Christina Schwab ’25, English and Theatre major
Faculty mentor: Dr. Bruce Graver, English
Exploring and Editing is steeped in female authorship during the Romantic Age. I transcribed two editions of Mary Wordsworth’s 1820 travel manuscript which catalogues her journey on foot across the Alps with her husband William Wordsworth and sister-in-law Dorothy Wordsworth. In addition to this, I compared these manuscripts to another edition and analyzed the differences to discover more about the life and travels of this talented yet unpublished writer. As a result, Mary Wordsworth will finally achieve publication in Dr. Bruce Graver’s upcoming scholarly edition “The Continental Travel Journals of Mary and Dorothy Wordsworth (1820)” through Liverpool University Press.
