The following is a list of major national and international scholarships. The awards are listed with links to brief descriptions and their websites. Students should use the websites to familiarize themselves with the qualifications and application process for those awards that interest them. For a brief summary of each award, please click on the links below.​

Note that some awards require institutional endorsement. These awards have a campus deadline ahead of the national deadline, and it is advisable to begin work on these months ahead of time in order to be competitive. Critical Language Scholarship
Scholarship for summer study of languages (must choose from thirteen languages deemed critically important by the U.S. State Department).

​Fulbright Fellowships
Financial support for one post-graduate year of “cultural ambassadorship” doing research or teaching English in a foreign nation.

Gates Cambridge

Gilman Scholarships
Scholarship for Pell-eligible students to study abroad for a minimum of three weeks

Goldwater Scholarships
Undergraduate scholarships for students studying mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering who intend to conduct research after graduation.

Funding for young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom in any field of study.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Fellowships
​​Funding for a research-focused Master’s or Ph.D. program in the natural sciences, social sciences, or interdisciplinary scientific field.

Scholarships for students at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate level who are promising future leaders or philanthropists.

SMART Scholarship
​Scholarships from the U.S. Department of Defense for undergraduates and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories.
