In this final video project for my Pop Culture in Postwar Japan class I discussed the history of Pokémon card design, detailing how the inspirations behind the media empire have shifted over its lifespan. I focus on the geographic focuses of the franchise, highlighting how as the games have become more popular outside of Japan they have also become more focused on non-Japanese themes.
